Walking through Munich on the eve of spring I sought to commit to memory the subjects of my observations: the petals of a flowering bromeliad, books in a bookshop window, a pit filled with water, buds on a tree, sunlight pouring through windows of a swimming pool….
I felt these curious and striking things had appeared before me like semaphores.
These paintings are perception based, meditative works that explore past moments of encounter. They are a translation of memory and of that, which lies below the surface of memory.
